Emomali Rahmon met with WB representatives

Dushanbe, February 15. (NIAT “Khovar”).-On February 14, President Emomali Rahmon received Director of the World Bank (WB) for strategy and operations in European region Theodor Alers and new regional director of this bank for Central Asia Saraj Kumar Ja.
At the beginning of the talk Theodor Alers presented to E.Rahmon new regional director of WB for Central Asia Saraj Kumar Ja.
In the course of meeting constant support of socio-economic development of Tajikistan by WB was noted with satisfaction. As well it was underlined, that currently in Tajikistan 14 projects on the basis of the WB grants are being realized, which form 190 million US dollars. WB in Tajikistan basically favors the development of education, health, agriculture and energy.
According to notes presented by T. Alers between Tajikistan and WB were agreed four projects as well in an amount of 48 million US dollars that, for 10 million dollars more in comparison with 2011. The realization of these projects will start current year.
At the meeting especially was paid attention to conducting of technical-economic and socio-economic expertise on project of hydropower station Roghun. The sides, pointing to high priority of bilateral cooperation in sphere of energy, expressed their readiness to extend the implementation of joint projects for reducing technical costs of electricity, ensuring access to alternative sources of electricity and development of hydropower in Tajikistan, press-service of the President of Tajikistan reported.
